Prop 139

Our state laws are changing. Our communities will be impacted on a large scale. And you can help.

Learn about Prop 139

One of the common threads of all seven ABCS ministries is that we value the sanctity of human life. Whether we are serving clients who have struggled with addiction, those who have experienced homelessness or incarceration, older adults who may not have the same abilities they once had or children and unborn babies, we understand that each person is made in the image of God and therefore has inherent value and dignity.

We are grateful for the ways both individuals and churches have engaged in this topic since the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, which allows states to determine their laws regarding abortion.

This upcoming ballot could greatly change abortion laws in Arizona.

On November 5, voters will be deciding on the proposed amendment titled, Proposition 139 The Right to Abortion Initiative. The outcome of this ballot could greatly impact our communities.

Here’s what you can do to help.

Be Informed

Amendments like Prop 139 have passed in other states, partially because voters were not properly informed. You can help by learning more about the proposition. Read this simple and comprehensive breakdown of Prop 139, produced by legal experts.

Pray

Prayer is what makes transformation and peace in our communities possible. Join us in asking God to establish righteous and just laws that protect vulnerable women and children. Ask God to shape Arizona's culture to value every human life. Pray that more would join the movement to empower and support women so that no one would have to face an unplanned pregnancy alone. (Psalm 82:3, 1 Peter 3:12, Psalm 139:14)

We continue to walk alongside and support parents through pregnancy and beyond.

Whatever the outcome of the ballot may be, the goal of New Life Pregnancy Center remains the same – to provide hope and care to those facing a planned or unplanned pregnancy, and strengthening families through Christ-centered ministries. Amelia’s story below is one example.

From Fear to Faith

Amelia’s Decision

Amelia* is a mother in need of a free pregnancy test who visited New Life Pregnancy Center for help. Her result was positive, and Amelia became distressed.

“I was hoping it was negative.” She paused.I need to end this pregnancy immediately,” she said.

Amelia shared that the pregnancy was the product of an affair. She discussed her guilt over the affair and felt the only way out of the situation was to end the pregnancy.

The center director helping Amelia responded with compassion. After listening and crying with her she closed their time with prayer. She suggested that Amelia return the following week for a free ultrasound, which she accepted. When Amelia returned for her appointment and saw her 8-week developing infant, tears came to her eyes.

This morning, I almost took an abortion pill. After seeing this, I cannot do that to my baby,” she said.

Amelia accepted the offer of weekly phone calls for encouragement and spiritual support. She was also connected to a local church’s small group and further resources such as virtual prenatal classes.

The director assured her that New Life Pregnancy Center would be there for her throughout her pregnancy and beyond to provide her with physical, emotional and spiritual support. *Name changed for confidentiality
