A Life Met With Hope

A Life Met with Hope

At the end of last year, Ashley*, a high school student, came in for a pregnancy test. She shared that she had taken several tests at home that came back positive. After hearing about our center, she wanted confirmation and support.

As the center director talked, Ashley opened up about something deeply personal. Growing up, she had always believed that if she ever found herself pregnant during an unideal time, she would choose abortion. Yet now, standing in a New Life Pregnancy Center, she shared that something in her heart was leading her in a different direction. Despite fear and uncertainty, Ashley felt a strong sense that she was meant to carry this child.

When the test confirmed that she was pregnant, the center director asked Ashley how she was feeling. She admitted she was nervous, but she also shared that she felt fairly certain she wanted to keep her baby. She went on to explain that while her mother was supportive, other family members were unkind and disapproving of her having a baby in this phase of her life. Their words hurt and added to the emotional weight she was already carrying.

Spoken Truth

In that moment, the center director was able to speak truth and hope into Ashley’s situation. The center director shared with Ashley that this pregnancy is no surprise to God, even if it was unexpected for her. Together they talked about how God sees her, loves her and has a plan for her life. The center director asked if she would like guidance and support as she walks through her first pregnancy, and without hesitation, she said yes.

Together, they discussed next steps—scheduling an ultrasound and enrolling in parenting classes so she can learn what to expect throughout her pregnancy.  Ashley shared her desire to find a job and work during her pregnancy so she can provide for her baby. Her determination and courage were evident, even in the midst of fear.

The center director said “I am truly looking forward to walking alongside her in the months ahead and witnessing God’s hand at work in her story.”

An Unexpected Loss

Sadly, Ashley’s story took a heartbreaking turn. She later experienced a miscarriage.

In the midst of her grief, Ashley reached out to the New Life Pregnancy Center director to share the news. In a beautiful act of generosity, she chose to donate the crib she had received for her baby. An expression of love and selflessness even in the middle of loss.

While her pregnancy did not end the way she had hoped, Ashley’s story remains one of courage, dignity and compassion. She chose life. She chose hope. And she allowed others to be blessed through her generosity, even while navigating her own sorrow.

The Sanctity of Human Life

Stories like this remind us why the sanctity of human life matters so deeply. Even when life is heartbreakingly brief. Every life is intentionally created by God, known by Him and valued beyond measure. Scripture tells us that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14), and that truth applies to both mother and child. Choosing to stand for life does not mean we are promised easy outcomes. It means we trust God’s goodness, even in unexpected and painful circumstances. At New Life Pregnancy Center, we believe that every life has purpose, and it is an honor to walk with families through both moments of joy and moments of grief, offering hope, compassion and Christ-centered care every step of the way.
