Nancy’s Story
When Nancy* walked into New Life Pregnancy Center (NLPC), she was carrying more than just an eight-week pregnancy. She was carrying fear, uncertainty and overwhelming pressure.
She had already taken a pregnancy test at home but wanted confirmation. When the test came back positive, her fears felt real and immediate.
“There’s no way I can carry full term,” she said.
Nancy was living with her mom, who had told her that if the test was positive, abortion was the only answer. Feeling overwhelmed and alone, Nancy couldn’t imagine any other path forward. Adoption didn’t feel possible to her either. Every option seemed heavy.
But what Nancy didn’t yet realize was that she wasn’t alone.
The NLPC team gently began sharing the many ways we could walk alongside her, through prenatal and parenting classes, material support, referrals to community resources and ongoing encouragement during and after her pregnancy. We explained that support doesn’t end with a positive test. In many ways, that’s where it begins.
Then Nancy was shown something small, yet powerful, an 8-week fetal model. As she held it in her hands, tears filled her eyes. Nancy shared that she had grown up in church before her parents divorced and that she still considered herself a Christian. In that tender moment, we asked if she would allow us to pray with her, for strength, courage and wisdom.
She said yes.
After the prayer, Nancy looked up and said words that changed everything:
“I don’t want to have an abortion. I’m keeping my baby.”
In that moment, fear gave way to courage.
Nancy left knowing that God loves her and her unborn baby and that she does not have to walk this journey alone. She was connected with an OB/GYN, referred to WIC, housing resources and connected to a community resource center for additional support. She also enrolled in our prenatal classes so she can be equipped and encouraged as she prepares to welcome her baby.
Parenting & Prenatal Classes: Support That Makes a Difference
Stories like Nancy’s remind us that sometimes what a woman needs most isn’t pressure — it’s support.
Our parenting and prenatal classes are designed to equip moms and dads with practical tools, biblical encouragement and community. From understanding pregnancy changes to learning newborn care, budgeting and healthy relationships, these classes provide confidence during an uncertain season.
When a woman knows she has support, everything changes.
If you or someone you know is facing an unplanned pregnancy, we are here. And if you to help make more stories like Nancy’s possible, you can make a donation that allows the center to continue offering classes, material assistance and Christ-centered care to women across our communities.
Because every life, mom and baby, deserves hope.
